Flat Roof Solutions CPD

Here at MFA, we do enjoy a CPD over lunch.  This month we had Carol Jones from Bauder present a seminar on flat roofs.  The seminar set out the individual benefits of the different flat roof waterproofing systems available in today’s market and the associated design considerations which require to be taken into account.

Flat roofs no longer deserve the bad press they previously received as today’s modern versions are much less likely to leak and better insulated than those fitted to slapdash extensions in the 70s and 80s.  These were typically too flat and built with inadequate structural materials, so they sagged in the middle and allowed rainwater to pond which would then find a way through any pinprick imperfection.

Given that the flat roof seems to be moving to centre stage, especially with the growing trend for cool modern structures, this CPD was certainly worthwhile!
