Acting on behalf of Ma Bell’s Ltd, MFA prepared, submitted and obtained planning permission, listed building consent and advertisement consent for a number of alterations to a ground floor commercial premises within the St Andrews town centre.
MFA initially secured planning permission to change the use of the premises from a Class 1 retail (delicatessen) to a Class 3 restaurant with ancillary hot food takeaway. Upon securing and implementing the permission, MFA was then instructed to submit further applications for the installation of 2 traditionally designed retractable awnings as well as a new non-illuminated projecting sign. A small and discrete LED light batten was also proposed so that when the awnings were not in use, the existing fascia sign could be externally illuminated.
The level of signage introduced to the restaurant premises ensured that a balance was achieved between the commercial needs of the business whilst not detracting from the character of the listed property or the streetscene in general.
