MFA was appointed by Roy K Fisher & Co to obtain both planning permission and building warrant for the erection of a poultry unit on their landholding. Specifically, the development related to a "high genetic merit” poultry breeding facility for the production of fertile hatching eggs for international distribution. Finding an appropriate site that met the strict bio-security requirements for this type of facility was critical to mitigate the threat of infection from other livestock, native wild birds, locally introduced birds (e.g. game birds) and commercial poultry operations. In addition, a further key consideration was ensuring that such a site could accommodate the sizeable development footprint without adversely affecting the character and appearance of the generally open and exposed landscape.
MFA provided both planning and architectural services with this project and early pre-application discussions with the local planning authority ensured that the planning application was determined positively under delegated powers. Our client, Roy Fisher was delighted with the services MFA provided…
“Montgomery Forgan Associates were recommended to me by a neighbour to carry out all planning and building warrant requirements relating to the development of a new build high generation poultry breeding unit.
The initial challenge was to meet a very tight schedule, which literally meant the buildings would be completed in a 12 month period from lodging the planning application in March 2017 to commissioning in March 2018. The team at MFA worked tirelessly to successfully achieve this, calmly and professionally addressing the many issues along the way.
There were two key factors that had a significant impact on the project gaining planning permission on this particular project:
It has been a pleasure working with MFA over the past year and I would fully recommend their professional services to anyone considering a project large or small.”
