MFA was delighted to receive Abbeyford Leisure's brief for this exciting and innovative addition to Elie Holiday Park. The brief was to extend their amenity building to provide a new cafe ("The Mirador") and takeaway facility with some outdoor seating, along with additional office and storage facilities.
John Fallows, Operations Director at Abbeyford Leisure and Project Manager for the build said: "We've worked closely with Montgomery Forgan Associates for many years on several projects and were thrilled with how they interpreted our brief. We wanted something very special for The Mirador and sought to reflect the area's nautical connection with the Robinson Crusoe story. Together with builder G H Cook & Son Ltd, MFA delivered the project every step of the way.
The result is a spectacular café and takeaway facility, complete with innovative maritime features including a contemporary rope partition wall which extends across the ceiling, glass pendants and atmospheric low level lighting complemented with modern seating. These quality accents and attention to detail combine to provide a first class environment that our owners, guests and visitors can enjoy for years to come."
The cafe was shortlisted in the Best Interior Design category as part of the annual Dundee Institute of Architects (DIA) awards in 2016. For further information regarding this park and its facilities, please visit http://www.abbeyford.com/our-parks/elie-holiday-park
