Due to the substantial increase of UK holidaymakers looking to stay and holiday within Scotland instead of venturing abroad, Abbeyford Leisure Ltd required additional caravan pitches to cater for this demand at their multi-award-winning Elie Holiday Park. MFA successfully obtained planning permission as well as the associated building warrant for an additional 20 static caravan pitches on land at the edge of Elie Forest.
The layout was designed to minimise the development footprint by utilising the existing fire break as the vehicular access and maintained large swathes of the site as unmanaged grassland to maintain and enhance biodiversity. The caravan pitches were broken up into small clusters with new native tree and shrub species planted to provide both a physical and visual buffer between each cluster. The extension was designed to be very much a low impact development within a naturalised environment with views across grassland towards Kincraig (the highest point on the Fife Coastal Path).
