With planning permission in principle (PPP) already in place, MFA was appointed by a private client to design a modest 1½ storey modern family home which satisfied the conditions of the PPP consent.
With a simple rectangular footprint, the dwelling was designed with a deep pitched roof, clad with natural slate, two pitched roof dormers with smooth render walls and modern timber windows and doors. The dwelling was centrally positioned within the plot to reduce the impact of the height of the dwelling and to ensure that existing amenity levels of neighbouring properties were safeguarded. All of these elements combined contributed to a design solution which was wholly sympathetic to the established character of the immediate area.
In addition to the well insulted timber kit, an element of renewable technology was also incorporated with PV solar panels installed on the roof of the double garage.
