With planning permission in principle (PPP) already secured, MFA was appointed by a private client to design a modest 1½ storey family home which satisfied the conditions of the PPP consent.
The dwelling adopts a simple rectangular form with a steeply pitched roof, complemented by traditionally proportioned dormer windows, smooth render walls and contemporary timber windows and doors. Careful consideration was given to the positioning of the house within the plot, with the dwelling centrally located to minimise its visual impact and safeguard the amenity of neighbouring properties.
The design successfully balances traditional building forms with modern detailing, creating a home that sits comfortably within the established character of the area. Internally, the layout provides bright, practical accommodation tailored to modern family living.
Sustainability also formed an important part of the design approach. In addition to a highly insulated timber frame construction, photovoltaic solar panels were incorporated on the roof of the detached double garage, helping to reduce energy consumption.
