Dalgairn was conceived as a house for the future, where public energy supply is neither consistent or guaranteed. Incorporated are numerous renewable energy systems such as wind turbine, solar and photovoltaic panels, air source heat pump and wood fired stoves. The site is extensive and has been planted to provide future fuel and food.
The dwelling is of timber construction with materials either locally sourced (Scottish Larch) or processed from felled trees on site (Sycamore, Chestnut) to provide finishing features such as flooring. The natural timber external walls blend in well with the surrounding wooded area and the dwelling’s overall height sits below the existing tree canopy.
