Private Dwelling - Edinburgh

MFA was appointed by a private client to design and secure planning permission and building warrant approval for a substantial 4 bedroom family home within an established residential area of South Queensferry.  The brief sought to create a contemporary, spacious dwelling that would provide high-quality family accommodation over 2 levels.

The dwelling was carefully positioned within the centre of the plot to protect the privacy and amenity of neighbouring properties and their gardens.  Particular attention was given to the scale, massing and orientation of the building to ensure it integrated successfully within the existing residential setting and maintained appropriate relationships with adjacent homes.

The architectural design draws upon the character of the surrounding area, with the choice of external materials and detailing reflecting the established streetscape while providing a fresh and modern interpretation.  Large, well proportioned living spaces and generous glazing maximise natural light throughout the home, creating bright and welcoming interiors suited to modern family life.
