The renewable energy sector in Scotland has grown significantly over the last decade. In 2020, the equivalent of 98.6% of gross electricity consumption was met by renewable sources in Scotland, which is up from 89.8% in 2019 as the country works it way towards its commitment of becoming net zero by 2045.
MFA has experience in the renewables sector and can offer planning support, advice and guidance on a range of projects from single wind turbines to anaerobic digestion (AD) plants. We have helped clients secure planning permission for a range of turbines and AD plants. Most recently, we obtained planning permission for an AD plant in Dumfries and Galloway predominately using existing by-products (manure/slurry) produced on the dairy farm which will generate 8MWh electrical power equivalent of gas.
